VIENNA , Va. July 14—In their fifth inter-league doubleheader this season, the Vienna Senators swept their opponents again. The Vienna bats stayed hot and the team added four more runs in the fifth inning. Marshall product Brandon Casamassima scored on Drew Allain's sacrifice fly, and left fielder Bryce Mendonca came home when catcher Cody Lassley doubled to center field. With righty Nick Rusk coming into relieve Joe Kline on the mound, Xavier Qualls brought home the team's eighth run with a RBI single to left field. With the bases loaded and two out, third baseman Nick Wheeler was hit by a pitch, which forced Ryan Eden home.
The Senators got their last run in the sixth inning when Drew Allain hit an RBI single to right field to allow Brandon Casamassima to come home.
Adam Dobies came on to start in Game 2 for the Senators. Mike Fournier and Mason Griffin appeared in relief and helped the Senators to victory. Fournier picked up the win and Griffin , last season's League Most Outstanding Pitcher, picked up the save.
In Game 2, Vienna jumped to a 6-0 lead in the second inning. Brandon Casamassima led off the inning and reached on an error. Drew Allain next batted and reached on a fielder's choice, and both runners advanced on an error. Left fielder Kyle Page walked to load the bases with no out. The Maryland Tigers then walked catcher Steve Moritz, which allowed Casamassima to score. Ryan Eden of the University of New Orleans then reached on a fielder's choice and Allain was thrown out at home by the first baseman. Bryce Mendonca brought home the team's second run with an RBI single. Itawamba Community College product Nick Wheeler made it 4-0 with a 2-RBI single. Left fielder Kody Kreis singled on a bunt, as did Zach Moore. Kavanagh scored as Zach Moore reached first base. J.T. Gregory then reached first on a fielder's choice.
